SANDPOINT— Babs’ Pizzeria has been named the “Business of the Month” for March by the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.

Babs Tietjen and her mother, B.J. Tietjen opened Babs’ Pizzeria in October 2007 in the little hut across from Farmin Park. They operated there for a year before relocating to the pizzeria’s current location on Highway 2 near Mountain West Financial Center.

The business was named the month’s top business for its community service, including its support of the local Relay for Life.

The family and their pizzeria are very involved in the local Relay for Life — B.J. has served on the committee for five years and Babette has had a pizzeria team during this time as well. In the past two years, the pizzeria team has donated more than $18,000 to the American Cancer Society. Babs’ has also donated the dinner at the Relay for Life event for the cancer survivors.

Babs’ Pizzeria also holds annual fundraiser for the Sandpoint High School football team. In addition, B.J. is also a member of CAL and volunteers at Bizarre Bazaar and the Kaleidoscope art program for grade schools.
