Program is special to veterans, families
When I read the article about the Sandpoint High School students who organized the Sandpoint Honor Flight Club, I remembered that my uncle, who lives in Wisconsin, had gone on an honor flight last year. I asked him to write and tell me about his experience, and I am including his letter here. I also went to the high school to share hi letter and some pictures with the Honor Flight Club.
The students and their advisor, John Nitcy, appreciated the information and are very creative and enthusiastic. They are looking forward to the screening of the “Honor Flight” film on April 19-20 and anticipate a lot of support from the community.
During a recent trip to Washington, D.C., my husband and I went to the World War II Veterans Memorial. It is very impressive and beautiful, and veterans who will be on the honor flight to visit their memorial will be very proud.

My name is Don Robida. I am a veteran from Stratford, Wis., and was fortunate enough to go on an honor flight. It was an experience I will never forget.
There were many of us in wheelchairs and we were all treated so great. The sponsors and all the people involved could not have done more for us. It was a trip that made us feel that we were really important. It was amazing how they could get everything done in one day. There were 99 of us on the trip. The ones in wheelchairs had a chaperone push them around. Our trip was number 10 from the Wausau area. There were World War II veterans, also Korean and Vietnam war veterans on the flight.
I wish you success in getting it started.
