Post Falls downs Sandpoint

| April 19, 2013 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Grayson Ludiker laced two doubles among his three hits, and scored three runs to help lead Post Falls to a 15-5 win over Sandpoint in nonleague boys baseball Thursday at Pine St. Field.

Freshman Chaz Bailey earned his first varsity win on the mound, allowing three-hits in five innings for the Trojans (5-7), who exploded for nine runs in the top of the fifth to force a 10-run rule.

“I’m proud of Chaz, he really worked ahead in the count,” said Trojans head coach Dustin Frank. “Trevor Boston had a huge two run double, and we had some clutch hits with guys on base.”

Freshman Paul Sundquist got his first varsity start for the Bulldogs (0-9), and held the Trojans in check for four innings of work. Tyler Newton, Devin Hancock and Zac Farrell each had hits for Sandpoint, which rallied to score four runs in the bottom of the fifth.

“Paul came in and threw strikes and let the defense get behind him early,” said Bulldogs coach Chris Young, who liked how his team competed after a tough half inning. “They kept fighting after the wheels came off. A lot more positive things came out of that game.”

The Bulldogs host Moscow on Tuesday in a 4A Inland Empire League doubleheader.
