Why are we yielding to mouthy minority?

| April 25, 2013 7:00 AM

“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof …”

Could the First Amendment be any clearer? Prohibiting the free exercise of religion is unconstitutional, period. This amendment says not one thing about where you can or can’t exercise this right. Consequently, the incessant attack on Christianity puzzles me. Even disregarding the First Amendment, what threat does Easter, Good Friday, or Christmas pose? What are atheists afraid of? And is not atheism, a set of strongly held beliefs, by definition, also a religion?

And why not the same atheistic self-righteous ire directed at Islam? Why are the rabid opponents of anything Christian so silent on Allah or Mohammed? Selective cowardice maybe?

In the spirit of full disclosure, I describe myself as a pantheist (look it up), which I suspect puts me one step from heathen. My belief is that it’s not possible the universe arose from some unknowable cosmic accident.

Why does the majority silently yield to a mouthy minority? Why do you not push back? By the way, an early Merry Christmas to all. That offends you? Get a life.

God bless America, and God bless our military.
