Community support helps Cottage shine

| August 8, 2013 7:00 AM

On behalf of The Cottage, a division of Panhandle Special Needs, we would like to thank the community for voting The Cottage, the “Most Unique Store” in Sandpoint. It is through the kindness and generosity of people donating their quality items, that have given us the opportunity to make it the unique shop that it is! It is the dedication of our volunteers that give so generously of their time, efforts and creativity that make it the interesting and fun place to shop, and the welcoming presence that they project that bring customers back time and time again, looking for treasures.

The Cottage is unique in other ways, too. We provide employment for 15 persons with disabilities in the continuing success of the Cottage. From janitorial to cleaning, polishing and preparing items for sale we could not do it without them. The interaction with the public is vital to their acquiring skills that are necessary to their job development and growth, and they look forward to those paychecks they receive for their work.

So, thanks to all of you that support us continually with your donations of items for the Cottage, your aluminum cans for recycling, your shredding of documents, and for Lignetics for its constant support in keeping Work Services with work bagging fire starting chips.

Panhandle Special Needs is a very special place in our hearts and in this community and we appreciate all you do to keep us doing what we do for persons with disabilities here and in the surrounding communities.
