SANDPOINT — A pair of current Team Takedown fighters and former Sandpoint and college wrestlers scored solid wins recently at the C3 Championship Mixed Martial Arts Fights in Newkirk, Okla.

Heavyweight Jared Rosholt ran his record to 8-1 with a 34 second knockout of King of the Cage veteran Jason Walraven (5-3). Rosholt, who won a state championship as a sophomore at Sandpoint and became a four-time NCAA Division 1 All-American at Oklahoma State, has improved his standup game to complement his huge wrestling background.

Rosholt possesses a rare combination of size and speed, and his ground and pound ability and power submissions make the 25 year-old one of the up and coming heavyweights in MMA.

Nicknamed “The Big Show,” Rosholt is closing in on the chance to jump up into the UFC, the sport’s highest governing body.

Former Sandpoint and Portland State wrestler Chris Feist (8-0) kept his record perfect with a second round guillotine submission of Thomas Gifford (5-1) on the undercard.

Feist is also hoping for a chance to join the UFC, and will continue to take fights to try and build his résumé and earn the chance to join the elite of the sport.
