Man dies in LPO crash

HOPE  — A Ponderay man was killed early Sunday morning after crashing his car into Lake Pend Oreille on Highway 200.

Idaho State Police identified the victim as Bradley M. Cunningham, 27.

State police said Cunningham was westbound in a 1997 Toyota Camry when he failed to maintain his lane of travel, crossed into the eastbound lane and plunged into the lake.

The crash remains under investigation, ISP said in a news release.

The crash happened at about 12:14 a.m., east of the Hope Bridge and boat basin.

Cunningham is the third motorist to die this year as a result of a motor vehicle crash in Bonner County. Nine people died motor vehicle crashes in Bonner County in 2012.
