All boaters need to obey no-wake zones

| August 22, 2013 7:00 AM

Yet another year has gone by and there are still knuckleheads out there who do not know what “no wake” means. “No wake” means just that … no wake. It’s not a hard subject to understand.

It’s sad but almost all are from out-of-state boaters and you’d think the same rules apply to all lakes and states but I guess not.

The kicker was last night while idling into Sandpoint Marina to dock and show off the town to visitors we had, a large boat was headed out making a wake twice mine said to me, “Hey, no wake. Slow down, pal.”

Now I’m at 1,000 rpm the slowest I can go without going backward.

Needless to say we all had a good laugh.

My response was, “Hey pal, your wake is way larger then mine. How about no wake for you, pal.” Sometimes they just don’t get it and you have to shake your head and wonder what the heck are they thinking.

Slow down.
