Gagnon, Dills lead Bulldogs in blowout

SANDPOINT — Jeremiah Gagnon registered a hat trick of goals, and Ash Dills added three assists and a goal as the Bulldogs routed Stillwater Christian 6-1 in a home opener on Friday night at War Memorial Field.

The team played flat in a 2-1 loss to Lake City on Thursday, and Sandpoint (1-1-1) head coach Adam Tajan was happy with his team’s energy and execution.

“The guys performed, they got up for it. We really wanted to bounce back from last night’s disappointing performance,” said Tajan. “I like spreading it around offensively. It was a good confidence builder.”

Matthew Burstahler found the back of the net for the second straight game, Aaron Crossingham added a goal and Kyle Stanley two assists in the blowout.

The Bulldogs are at Coeur d’Alene again on Thursday after tying the Vikings in the season opener.

COEUR d’ALENE — Kade Murphree scored the tiebreaking goal from 8 yards out off a feed from Garrett Flolo in the 53rd minute, lifting Lake City past the Bulldogs 2-1 in noneague boys soccer Thursday at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex.

Matthew Burgstahler tied it for Sandpoint (0-1-1) in the 14th minute on a scramble in front of the net.
