Cusick sweeps Clark Fork

| December 11, 2013 6:00 AM

CUSICK, Wash. — Ben Bahr had his best game as a varsity player, scoring a team-high nine points to go with seven rebounds, but Clark Fork was simply outmatched, falling 77-27 to Cusick in nonleague boys hoops on Tuesday night.

Tristin Bristol pulled down 10 rebounds, and Brandan Bowen added seven points and three steals in defeat for the Wampus Cats (1-1).

“We got a little down, and Ben kept us going in the fourth quarter. We didn’t just give up, and it was good to see that,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel. “Cusick has some athletes. That might be the best team we play all year. It was one of those learning games, an eye opener.”

Clark Fork is at the North Star League Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Plummer.

Lyndsie Kiebert scored 13 points and Leslie Kiebert added eight, but Clark Fork lost 52-33 to Cusick on Tuesday night.

Rebecca Dohmen and Alicia Heigis each had six rebounds for the Cats (0-4) in defeat.

“It’s kind of the same old thing, we play good at times, but just miss too many easy shots,” said Cats coach Mark Stevens, noting his team played without starting point guard Callie Potter. “Cusick kind of schooled us on the boards, that’s going to be our focus the rest of the week.”

Clark Fork hosts Mullan on Dec. 19.
