Randles first, Travers third at IE tourney
SPOKANE — Freshman Casey Randles went 4-0 en route to the 152 pound championship, and senior Josh Travers (220) went 4-1 to finish third, leading the Bulldog wrestling team to a 10th place finish among 21 teams on Saturday at the Inland Empire League Tournament at Central Valley High School.
Randles won three of his matches in first period pins, and the fourth in a 7-0 decision, dominating his bracket.
Jacob Williams (170) went 3-2 during the two-day tournament, and Josh Brown (182) 2-2, the only other Bulldogs to post multiple wins over the weekend.
The tournament serves as a nice prelude to the Tri-State Tournament on Friday and Saturday at North Idaho College. Tri-State is considered one of the toughest tournaments in the Northwest, featuring brackets boasting multiple current state champions from Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Montana.
