Strong first half propels Bulldogs past Badgers

| December 21, 2013 6:00 AM

SANDPOINT — Jeremiah Gagnon scored 21 points, and the Bulldogs rode a strong first half to a 68-50 win over the Badgers in the nightcap of Moose Madness on Friday night at Les Rogers Court.

Matthew Timothy added 11 points, and Cooper Spalding was 4-4 from the field for nine points, as the Bulldogs built a 40-28 halftime lead and took care of business in the second half.

“It was a nice offensive first half, which gave us a cushion. Bonners Ferry doubled us up on the offensive boards,” said Bulldogs head coach Tyler Haynes, lauding the play of Spalding. “He played fantastic. He came off the bench ready to play. He’s worked his tail off.”

Cameron Woods had a strong game for the Badgers, scoring a game-high 28 points in defeat.

At the conclusion of the boys game, Sandpoint was awarded the Moose Madness trophy, followed by a celebration by the students and players on the court.
