| February 1, 2013 6:00 AM

CLARK FORK — Bryan Smith scored 33 points — tying the school record of Greg Roman — to lead the Panthers, which made 10 3-pointers in a nonleague win against the Wampus Cats on Thursday.

“We just shot the ball really, really well,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Chris Pedersen said. “We got off a hot start shooting the ball and our pressure defense got us running up and down the court.”

Christian Pedersen scored 25 points for Coeur d’Alene Charter (12-5), which travels to Valley Christian on Saturday.

“They made a few runs on us when they just dumped the 3’s in on us,” Clark Fork coach Corey Vogel said. “We had 17 turnovers, and that just killed us.”

Axel Anderson had 13 points and 10 rebounds, Joey Hazinsky 10 rebounds and Zack Klein 10 points and five assists for Clark Fork (4-13), which travels to Wallace on Saturday.

Kiebert, Heigis lead Wampus Cats in loss

CLARK FORK — The Wampus Cats, missing three starters (not counting one lost for the season early in the year), battled the Panthers for a half before falling in the nonleague game.

“We started the game with two girls (in the starting lineup) that this is their first year playing basketball,“ Clark Fork coach Dexter Vogel said. “Our girls, for the group we had out there, played hard.”

Lyndsie Kiebert led Clark Fork (7-12) with eight points, and also had three assists. Alicia Heigis had seven points and 10 rebounds, Megan Frazer four steals.

Lexi Turkenburg poured in 42 points for Coeur d’Alene Charter (16-3).

Clark Fork closes out the regular season Saturday at home vs. Wallace, where a win would give the Wampus Cats the top seed to next week’s 1A Division II District 1 tournament.
