Bulldogs looking to extend season tonight against Hawks

| February 5, 2013 6:00 AM

SANDPOINT — It’s win or go home tonight for the Sandpoint girls basketball team.

The Bulldogs (13-9) will look to put a tough loss to Moscow in their rear-view mirror, and will host Lakeland (3-17) tonight in the loser-out game of the 4A Region 1 tournament.

The No. 2 seed Bulldogs would love another crack — or two — at the No. 1 seed Bears, after suffering a difficult loss last Thursday that could have earned them home court advantage, but first must take care of business tonight to get that chance.

The Bulldogs and Hawks are no strangers, as tonight’s game marks the fourth meeting this season. Sandpoint won the first by 13, the second by five and the most recent by nine in the tournament opener.

The true double elimination format could make for a busy week should the Bulldogs keep winning. If Sandpoint beats Lakeland, they’ll need to beat the Bears twice on Thursday and Friday to earn the lone 4A North berth to state.

Tip off tonight is at 7 p.m. at Les Rogers Court.
