T-Wolves down Bulldogs
COEUR d’ALENE — The Timberwolves held the visiting Bulldogs to just two baskets in the first half — both in the opening quarter — and built a 33-7 lead at intermission en route to a 53-26 win in nonleague boys basketball Tuesday night at Lake City High School.
“We played great defense — kids were flying around, the energy level was great,” Lake City assistant coach Kelly Reed said. “Defense turned into easy baskets at the offensive end.”
Riley Moreen led Lake City (14-5) with 11 points. Kyle Guice added seven points, 11 rebounds, three blocked shots and three assists for the Timberwolves, currently the No. 5 ranked 5A team in the state media poll.
Thomas Edwards was the top scorer for Sandpoint (2-16) with six points, while Collin Jurenka, Chase Rodriguez and T.J. Alsager each scored four points as the Bulldogs struggled offensively.
Jeremiah Gagnon, who had scored 53 points in the previous two games, was held to just two points, but the Bulldogs managed to play even with the Timberwolves in the second half.
Sandpoint caps a busy week with a home game on Friday night against Lakeland, followed by Senior Night when Coeur d’Alene comes to town on Saturday night.
