Senator's comments were appropriate

| February 10, 2013 6:00 AM

Dear Sen. Sheryl Nuxoll:

Thank you for speaking up! An Associated Press article in the Bonner County Daily Bee reports your concern for the insidious methods of Obamacare, but does so in a context of politically correct criticism. The challenge of speaking the truth to power never comes easy and I am grateful to you for standing up. Your comments, as reported, make it clear that you have done your homework on the subject, a task that too few will accept. Again, thank you for telling it straight and in a way that gets attention. Of course those who would silence you hope the people of Idaho will focus on your style rather than the substance of your concern. Thank God we have you in Boise to bring light to a process that could unwittingly rubber stamp more federal domination of our lives.

The health insurance exchange challenge before you is huge and made more difficult by those who would be seduced by "easy federal dollars." I encourage you to continue to penetrate to the core issues of your task — and please — continue to share your concerns. To those who think your "rhetoric" is excessive, let me refer them to the section of the Affordable Care Act that spells out the authority and methodology of the appointed group that determines what and if medical care will be available to Medicare patients. Let your critics actually do their homework before judging your concern.
