More than 30 kids took part in the third annual President’s Day Kids Softball Clinic at Sandpoint High School, ranging in age from the second through the eighth grade.

The emphasis was on the basics of hitting, catching, throwing and baserunning.

“Introducing a lot of the concepts, and the kids are running around having fun,” said SHS head coach and camp organizer Derek Dickinson of the clinic’s goal. “Introduce them to the game and get them excited.”

The Sandpoint Little League registration deadline for the 2013 season is coming up on March 9.

The league has added a Minors division (8-10 year-olds) this year to the already-existing Majors (10-12 year-old) and Juniors (13-14 year-old.
