Support schools with a 'yes' vote

| February 26, 2013 6:00 AM

As well-intentioned as they are, our legislative body in Boise still defies the court order to “adequately fund the public schools of Idaho.” Financing the local schools falls on the shoulders of local citizens. This is not new. If the money comes from Boise it is because Boise took it from us to begin with. Boise sends it back to us after they take a chunk out for so-called administrative costs. Let’s keep our money here.

If you are reading this it is because you were taught how to read. That is what schools are built for and Bonner County schools do a fantastic job of teaching our younger generations the three Rs and many, many more things. They have wonderful, interesting programs that encourage our young people to better themselves intellectually, socially and morally. We need to support those schools in their endeavors.

Our parents were “dirt poor,” but we received our education largely at the expense of others because the community supported our schools. Now it’s payback time. We must remember the past, but prepare our younger generations for the future.

Vote “yes” for the March 12 levy.
