Activities are vital part of educational system
Extracurricular activities are a vital part of our educational system. Participating students have a 15 percent higher attendance rate according to The National Center for Education Statistics. With better attendance come improved grades. Students who participate in activities generally maintain a higher GPA than those who don’t.
Evidence collected through the Scholastic Aptitude Test indicates individuals participating in activities show a measurable gain in their college admission scores. College admission boards take note of extracurricular participation. Activities help separate them from the pack. Participation in activities correlates directly to academic success and postsecondary opportunities. Simply, extracurricular activities in public schools have proven beneficial.
At Sandpoint High School, 90 percent of our students participate in extracurricular activities. Many of our students participate in multiple clubs and sports. Thank you for supporting the LPOSD supplemental levy on March 12.
