Wurm leads Wampus Cats to key league win

| January 9, 2013 6:00 AM

CLARK FORK — Annie Wurm posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and a defensive adjustment helped the Wampus Cats dominate the second half en route to a 41-33 win over Mullan in a North Star League tilt Tuesday night in Clark Fork.

Mariah Miller scored a team-high 14 points to go with three steals, Tessa Vogel added six points, three steals and three assists and Megan Frazier had her best game of the year with six points and three steals, helping the Wampus Cats (5-6, 2-1 NSL) erase an eight point halftime deficit and put the game away.

Kami McKinnon scored a game-high 21 points to pace the league-leading Tigers (5-6, 3-2 NSL). In the second half Vogel started picking her up defensively at the free throw line, which turned the momentum and helped the Cats to a decisive 28-12 edge in the second half.

“We caused a lot of turnovers and the girls worked hard on defense; that was the difference,” said head coach Dexter Vogel, praising the play of Wurm on the blocks. “She’s playing with much more confidence and really stepping up.”

Clark Fork is at Stillwater Christian in Montana on Thursday.
