Sandpoint wrestlers open against Capital, Kamiakin

POST FALLS — The tourney hosts will be out to defend their title when Post Falls High hosts the 16th annual River City Duals wrestling tournament today and Saturday at The Arena.

A total of 24 teams, five who have won the tourney before, will wrestle two pod duals each today, before filtering into gold, silver and bronze brackets for Saturday’s duals.

The placing duals are scheduled to begin Saturday at 4 p.m., with the championship dual slated for around 5:30.

Sandpoint, which features a young squad as it rebuilds, continues to improve with experience and will get tested against some top regional teams.

All-session passes are $12 for adults, $7 for students with ASB and $2 for grades K-5.

3 p.m. — Hermiston (Ore.) vs. Ephrata (Wash.), Post Falls vs. Priest River, Columbia vs. Medical Lake, Nampa vs. Freeman, Colville vs. Lakeland, Timberlake vs. Connell (Wash.).

4:30 — Capital (Boise) vs. Kamiakin (Wash.), Shadle Park vs. Pasco, Hermiston vs. Kellogg, Post Falls vs. Pullman, Columbia vs. West Valley, Nampa vs. Lewis and Clark.

6 — Colville vs. Gonzaga Prep, Timberlake vs. Bishop Kelly, Capital vs. Sandpoint, Shadle Park vs. Moscow, Ephrata vs. Kellogg, Priest River vs. Pullman.

7:30 — Medical Lake vs. West Valley, Freeman vs. Lewis and Clark, Lakeland vs. Gonzaga Prep, Connell vs. Bishop Kelly, Kamiakin vs. Sandpoint, Pasco vs. Moscow.
