Jensen goes off for 30 in Thunder win

SANDPOINT — Kootenai Thunder senior Taylor Jensen had the hot hand offensively, pouring in a game-high 30 points to lead the Thunder to a 71-53 win over House of Lord in Priest River recently.

Jensen added nine rebounds, Andrew Spayth 16 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks, Jason Roop nine points, Shayne Jensen five points and five blocks, Joel Crosby five points, Justin Puryear four and Curtis Roop two for the Thunder, who are now 5-1 in Mountain Christian League play.

Spayth had another monster game in the Thunder’s 58-22 dismantling of Genesis Prep, tallying 18 points, 16 boards and eight rejections in manning the paint. Taylor Jensen added 15 points and six rebounds; Joel Crosby seven points, Curtis Roop six and Shayne Jensen, Justin Puryear and Jake Maynard four apiece.

Finally, the 6-foot-9 Spayth nearly missed yet another triple double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and eight blocks as the Thunder lost 46-34 to Immaculate Conception Academy in a nonleague game in Liberty Lake. Taylor Jensen added 14 points and eight rebounds, Shayne Jensen four points and three blocks and Puryear and Crosby two points each in defeat.

The Thunder girls team also took on Genesis Prep in Post Falls. The final score was 11-48. Scoring for the Thunder were Josie Saganski and Carly Johnson with 4 points each and Joyce Blair with 3 points.

The Thunder girls won one game and lost two recently in Mountian Christian League action.

Joyce Blair stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, seven steals and five blocks to lead the Thunder past House of Lord 34-5. Carly Johnson added a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, Taryn Osman six points and eight rebounds, Tessa Murray two points and eight boards and Josie Saganski two points.

In a 52-12 loss to MCL-leading Chrisian Center, Johnson scored six points and Blair four in defeat.
