Residents to observe sancity of human life
Re: Excerpts from Sunday, Jan. 12, letters to the editor from Jane Fritz and Robin Helm.
“… (D)eeply saddened … unnecessary death.” “To kill for sport is simply wrong.” “… (T)hat our treatment of them has no moral significance, is a positively outrageous example of Western crudity and barbarity.” “We humans are the only species ... kills for enjoyment.” “… (D)eserving of respect and awe, not human slaughter…”
The letters were penned in response to a photo of a 9-foot tall Alaskan bear that was on display at our local Panhandle State Bank. I wonder … do the authors afford comparable empathy, passion, outrage and judgment for the senseless killing of innocent human life as well?
With the inclusion of human life into the narrative, for me and my house, our augmentation to the authors’ stated convictions would read: “… or for convenience, is indeed inhumane, outrageous and woefully shameful. God: Please forgive and have mercy on us.”
Any and all are invited to join in today, between 2-3 p.m., in front of the Bonner County Courthouse. Hundreds of community residents will be standing solemnly and prayerfully in support of the sanctity of innocent human of life. This same observance will play out in communities all across this nation and around the globe.
