Bulldog girls blown out by No. 5 Bengals

LEWISTON — It was one of those games both the coaches and players would just as soon forget, as the Bulldogs shot just 4-16 field goals for the entire game, struggling offensively in a 57-16 loss to the Bengals in nonleague girls basketball Monday night at Lewiston High School.

Madi Schoening scored four points, Hailey Olin added three points and two steals and Emma Liband pulled down four rebounds for the Bulldogs (11-8), who lost for just the second time in the past seven games.

“We were hampered by cold shooting and a shortage of quickness and good decision making,” said Bulldogs head coach Bill Bender. “It was a disappointing game which did not reflect all of the hard work and effort the girls have put in this season. I take full responsibility for not having this team ready to play at the level they’re capable.”

Lewiston (14-5), the No. 5 ranked 5A team in the state, led 36-9 at halftime.

Sandpoint is at Moscow on Friday in the final regular season game of the season.
