| January 23, 2013 6:00 AM

CLARK FORK — Clark Fork jumped out to an early lead after the first quarter, but could not hold off the pressure of Cusick, falling 45-32 in nonleague girls basketball Tuesday night at Clark Fork High School.

Mariah Miller finished with 12 points and six steals to lead the Wampus Cats (6-10), while Annie Wurm added six points and nine rebounds, Leslie Kiebert five points and seven dimes and Tessa Vogel six points in defeat.

“Cusick plays in-your-face defense, and the girls struggled at times to hold the ball,” said Cats head coach Dexter Vogel. “The girls worked hard, we just had trouble handling the pressure.”

Clark Fork travels south the face Lakeside on Saturday, looking for the season sweep of the Knights.

Nesbitt leads Wampus Cats in defeat

CLARK FORK — Zach Nesbitt scored a team-high 12 points to lead the Wampus Cats, but Cusick was simply too big and too fast, running past the Cats 69-41 in nonleague boys hoops Tuesday night at Clark Fork High School.

Tristin Bristol pulled down his season average of 16 rebounds, and Joey Hazinsky added nine points, six assists and three steals to lead the Wampus Cats (3-12), who struggled offensively in the first half.

“Cusick is really, really fast, they’re transition offense is the best we’ve played,” said Cats head coach Corey Vogel, whose team struggled from beyond the arc. “We didn’t capitalize on our opportunities. We were just out of synch, with no rhythm.”
