Spayth notches another triple-double for Thunder

SANDPOINT — Kootenai Thunder senior post Andrew Spayth continues to dominate down low in the Mountain Christian League, scoring 30 points to go with 17 rebounds and 10 blocks in the Thunder’s recent 58-40 win over Pullman Christian School.

The 6-foot-9 Spayth averages nearly 10 blocks a game, giving the Thunder a defensive force around the basket. Taylor Jensen added a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds, Curtis Roop added 11 points, Jason Roop dished out seven assists and Shayne Jensen scored five for the Thunder, who ran their record to 7-3 in MCL play.

The Thunder also notched a 53-46 win over North Idaho Christian School, with Spayth tallying 15 points, 14 rebounds, nine blocks and six assists. Taylor Jensen added 15 points, 11 rebounds and three steals, Shayne Jensen 11 points, three blocks and three  assists, Justin Puryear four points, Tony Brown and Jason Roop three each and Curtis Roop two points.  

The Thunder then lost 52-40 to Oaks Academy, which is currently undefeated in MCL play. Spayth led the way with 22 points, eight rebounds and 10 swats, Taylor Jensen added eight points and 13 rebounds, Shayne Jensen eight points, Puryear two, many of those points coming off assists from point guard Curtis Roop, who dished eight dimes.

The Thunder boys then went on to play the No. 2 ranked Logos Knights, missing starter Taylor Jensen due to a knee injury. The Thunder lost 63-42, placing them in third place in MCL standings. Spayth scored 18 points and and pulled down 14 rebounds, Puryear added 10 and six, Curtis Roop scored five points and handed out four assists, Shayne Jensen scored four, Jason Roop three and Jake Maynard two to round out the scoring.
