We have lost sense of personal responsibility

| January 31, 2013 6:00 AM

Whenever some terrible tragedy like Columbine or Sandy Hook happens, certain people begin hollering about gun control. It’s not uncontrolled guns that are killing people, it’s people with no control who are killing people.

With the teaching of evolution as fact in schools, and the removal of any teaching or reference to God or Jesus from schools and public life, society’s moral compass has become skewed. It has no higher power to be accountable to, so everyone does what seems okay to them.

Here are some statistics taken from an earlier Glen Beck show on Fox News.

n Handguns were banned in Washington, D.C. in 1976. Before the ban, 63 percent of murders in D.C. were committed with handguns. In 2007, 81 percent of murders in D.C. were committed with handguns.

n In 1997 England banned handguns. Five years later murders committed with handguns had jumped 340 percent.

n Chicago banned handguns in 1982. Before the ban 38 percent of murders in Chicago were committed with handguns. In 2009, 70 percent of murders in Chicago were committed with handguns.

With loss of faith in God, and a solid base of what is right and wrong, a sense of personal responsibility goes out the window, too.
