Vehicle lands in water after crash

| July 11, 2013 7:00 AM

SANDPOINT — A car crash on the Pack River Bridge near Northside Elementary School sent a vehicle into the water Wednesday evening.

According to Bonner County Sheriff Daryl Wheeler, no one was hurt in the accident at Colburn Culver Road, which only appeared to involve a single vehicle.

Although the cause of the collision was still unknown, Wheeler said it appears that the driver veered off the bridge, sending the car into the river.

The water underneath wasn’t deep enough to present a danger, and all car occupants were able to get out without issue, Wheeler added.

According to Wheeler, the bridge is a popular location for swimmers and other individuals looking to beat the heat, so the number of people in the area might have influenced the crash.

However, all those details are still under investigation.
