Beware of attempted telephone scams

| June 25, 2013 7:00 AM

We have received the fourth telephone call within the past few weeks … in broken English, the person claims they are monitoring computer traffic in our area and have noted several “fatal computer errors” being reported by our computer. For a nominal fee, our bank card number and, of course, our personal identification would be needed to correct the “fatal error” online.

I indicated our telephone was being monitored by the local police department in direct contact with the local FBI offices and he would be contacted shortly. He laughed and hung up.

Beware, they are out there.
