Support our kids, vote 'yes' on levy

I urge you to support the Lake Pend Oreille School District’s current levy request.

This two-year levy replaces an expiring levy and is necessary to maintain the current level of educational programs in the school district. The levy funds will go directly into the classrooms to maintain class sizes, small rural schools, books, computers, maintenance of our current buildings, and extracurricular activities.

The most costly part operating of our school district is the wages and benefits for dozens of dedicated teachers and staff. Nearly 90 percent of the school district’s expenses are wages for the teachers and other dedicated employees.

Without the levy, nearly one-third of district staff will need to be cut, devastating the educational opportunities of our children. This levy is not a choice but a commitment we all have to support the future of our children.
