Party shouldn't trump needs of the people

I was disappointed to see that once again the party rules over the people.
The citizen who cared enough to put time and money on the line against Joyce Broadsword was Steve Johnson — an outstanding community-minded caring individual who was tired of the bickering headlines regarding county commissioners and decided to do something about it. He opted to run as an independent so that no party could tell him how to represent the people.
How sad that the party gets to choose our new commissioner.
