Sharon Burdick’s “Letter” titled, “Party shouldn’t trump ...” was excellent. Joyce Broadsword’s decision to vacate the commissioner’s position to which she was elected was a disrespectful disservice to every Bonner County citizen, especially to those who had voted for her and thought she was the “smart” choice.
The question is when had she first been approached about the office she now holds and when did she decide to accept the position? Offices of that importance go through a nomination, interview(s), offer and acceptance routine, which can take months to complete. Did Joyce know before the November election? Now, the political leaders in Boise selected their choice to fill a very demanding local position.
