Gunter, Ray best picks for library board seats
Never before have we had two librarians running for library board positions.
The inherent problem with boards is they have to learn about the business they are now part of, and that takes months, from my own experience. This year we can solve that, Wayne Gunter, retired library director and Gloria Ray, retired librarian who for years was in charge of collection development have a ready wealth of knowledge and experience, they will hit the ground running.
I worked with Wayne and Gloria for many years; Wayne and I disagreed on occasion, but he always heard me out and considered my viewpoint, before making the final decision. He also is a master when it comes to budgets and accounting, an excellent quality for a board member, he also put together the proposal that was voter approved and got us the beautiful facilities we now have, and the bookmobile that serves outlaying areas.
Gloria is one of those quiet people who see the whole picture without letting personal opinions color their view, she is the one in a group who glues it all together. This is our opportunity to bring cohesion to the board as the library moves forward. I urge you to “Get out and Vote!” and I hope you will consider Wayne and Gloria worthy of your vote.
