KAMIAH — Megan Frazier clocked a 13:32 to finish third in the 3,200 on Saturday at the 1A Region 1 track meet at Kamiah High School, and the Wampus Cats qualified four athletes for the state meet.

Alexa Fitzpatrick was fourth in the 100 and Desi Westphal fourth in the pole vault to earn their spots at state for the Wampus Cat girls, while Nick Stewart-Bloach earned an at-large berth to state after finishing fifth in the 800.

“I’m pleased with everybody’s performance this year. They had a great attitude and were there for everyone,” said Clark Fork head coach Frank Hammersley, who is happy to get some of his athletes a taste of state. “I want to go down there and get them some experience, do their best and enjoy it. I’m so proud of them.”

A handful of other Wampus Cats just missed out on qualifying for state, especially sophomore Brendan Bowen in the 300 and 100 hurdles.

“He just missed both of them, I was really sad for him,” said Hammersley, noting Bowen is part of a young group with a bright future. “He’ll be back and do well next year.”

The 1A state meet is Friday and Saturday at Middleton High School.
