Community support helped SHS club soar
I wanted to personally thank everyone in the community who supported the Sandpoint High School Honor Flight Club in any way. Learning how much the veterans went through really opened my eyes, and I had a great time participating in the club.
I attended the homecoming of the 93 veterans on Friday, May 17, and it was wonderful. They were all very touched with how much work we put into helping them go to see their memorial. It especially meant a lot to me since I have seen all of the memorials before and now it has a completely different meaning.
I plan to keep the club going next school year, as the president of the club. Mia Schroeder, this year’s president, has taught me that it doesn’t matter where you come from to be able to support the people who sacrificed their lives for others. She is going back to Germany this June, and she has definitely left a footprint all around Sandpoint, and especially on me. We will miss her dearly.
We plan to raise funds over the summer at different events so look for us in our blue T-shirts! Again, thank you to everyone who did/will support us in anyway!
