Three cheers for an amazing team

It has been my privilege to help coach Sandpoint varsity softball the last four months.

First, a thanks to the businesses and fans that supported our team this season. Our final home game saw full bleachers and fans in the outfield, and everyone was treated to a district playoff victory for our Bulldogs.

Second, I would like to offer thanks to our girls for always playing hard, and for bringing us some very memorable moments on the field. From home runs to diving catches to throw downs at second to clutch strikeouts, all our kids delivered to bring us an exciting season. All our girls gave it their all, even when playing hurt.

Next year we look forward to even more parity in our district, and more excitement for the fans, coaches and players. While we are graduating five seniors, our juniors, sophomores and freshman all came up big, and we are excited at the prospect of the eighth-graders who will be entering the program.

There is going to be a new game in town for Sandpoint, and that game is softball! When you see Casey, Jessica, Jordan, Mamie, Autumn, Jacey, Breanna, Sam, Morgan, Topi, Lucy, Bre or Cody this summer, be sure to thank and congratulate them for giving our community and school a great season.
