| November 5, 2013 6:00 AM

SANDPOINT — In addition to expanding, Touchstone Massage Therapies and Nutrition Plus!, also has a new home.

Owner Krystle Shapiro recently moved to new quarters at 710 Superior Street, Suite D, in Sandpoint.

The last few years have been very productive, said Shapiro, who maintains her therapeutic massage practice with specialization in elder care, lymphatic massage therapy, and sports rehabilitation massage therapy.

Shapiro completed her master of science degree in holistic nutrition degree in June 2012 with a focus to address the rising incidence of veteran suicide through the understanding of what happens to brain function in such toxic environments as theaters of war. This past year, she also has been developing curriculum for classes to inform her students about the importance of changing their eating habits to prevent, slow down, or ease the onset of disease, chronic disorders, or to rebalance body chemistry through holistic approaches. The goal, she added, is to enable people to be at their optimal best each day, to make choices one step at a time to begin new habits oftentimes hard to choose let alone incorporate.

“Little by little gets to the bigger desire to change and heal” has become her motto for self improvement when it comes to nutritional choices, Shapiro said.

“We take so much for granted because our lives are busy,” she said. “The global food businesses today are focused on providing for the ever-growing numbers of people in the world, businesses we trust to do the right thing when it comes to food processing, research has shown have not met our trust.

“We as consumers must do our own research, talk to each other, learn from each other, and make new and wiser decisions we have oftentimes not been taught to consider.”

Shapiro also is in the process of launching her “Let’s Chat” blogsite to address anyone’s concerns about simple and effective changes they can begin to make to ensure profound and meaningful changes in their health care and reduce overall health care costs.
