Continue improvements but take out 'cobwebs'

| November 7, 2013 6:00 AM

It’s wonderful to see the continuing improvements (pedestrian friendly) to downtown Sandpoint. As the work is being done on Third Avenue, I can’t but see the skeletal substance in the air above the street. I know that had Avista been approached to help in the beautification of downtown Sandpoint, they would have jumped on the PR benefits and the visual benefits to an already expensive endeavor. Windstorms blowing down overhead wires has been a continuing problem in the Northwest. If the funds are not there, at least put in conduit for future underground wires.

Second Avenue was very well done, except those overhead poles and wires. We tend not to see those cobwebs that have been there forever until they are no longer there.

Let’s continue the beautification of Sandpoint, but let’s not overlook that which is so easy to overlook.

I wish the lovely conceptual drawings had shown those power poles with the spaghetti in the air. Misrepresentation I guess.
