War on health care and other thoughts
The Republicans’ war on national health care continues, not because it’s a bad idea but because President Obama presented it. Several conservative think tanks presented almost the same proposals as Obamacare but as soon as President Obama picked up the torch, the conservative support went away. This is health care, not a made-up war against a foreign nation that cost billions of dollars, thousands of lives and disabled thousands of others. Perhaps if Obama had put on a fight suit and helicoptered to an aircraft carrier to declare the war on health care is won, the conflict would be over but then again like the Iraq War, maybe not. Are there not more important issues for Congress? The government shut down cost us $2 billion but congressmen still got paid and have health insurance.
My daughter just went through a heart procedure at a Missoula hospital, probably around $100,000. Without health insurance, we would probably hold a benefit auction to sell everything we own. I wonder who paid for all of Dick Cheney’s heart procedures throughout his career. Also, how can you transplant a heart into someone who never had one?
Guns for teachers I do not believe are a good idea. Armed security by trained individuals is something that needs to be looked at, along with liability and communication concerns. Conservatives do not want to fund public schools now, where is this funding coming from?
