Foot-draggers solidly in Democrats' camp

| November 10, 2013 6:00 AM

Congress well deserves the low rating it is receiving from the public. Some of us are aware of some congressional peccadillos but ignorant of others. It ardently infuriates most of us when Congress exempts itself from laws that the rest of us must obey. Such is the case with Obamacare. A Democrat-controlled Congress in their often-extreme display of arrogance specifically exempted themselves along with their staffs from being covered by the law. They need not worry about broken websites or any of the myriad of other problems facing the public. The taxpayer will continue to provide these elite peers of the realm with everything from an aspirin to heart-lung transplants. Who would want to give that up?

It seems that the Republicans in Congress are more than willing to do just that. It is the Democrats who insist on being exempted from the provisions of the Affordable Health Care Act. Every Republican in Congress with tea party encouragement has expressed a desire to end the practice of congressional exemptions. On numerous occasions the Republican-oriented House has sent the Democrat-controlled Senate a bill that would remove the exemption to find that Harry Reid will not even bring it up for a vote.

The foot-draggers are solidly in the ranks of the Democrat party. Through their machinations they have righteously earned themselves the appellation of demagogue.
