Appointing Litsinger is the ethical thing to do

Dear mayor,

Credibility and trust are two of the main attributes for those holding public office. Filling open public offices is the reason for public elections. This has recently been done for the three vacancies of record at election time.

Now you are burdened with the personal responsibility of filling an additional Sandpoint City Council vacancy. It would seem that the most creditworthy and ethical way to do this would be to choose the next person on the ballot, had the now open position been filled by the electorate. This would keep the appearance of “politics as usual” out of the picture, and Sandpoint can move forward with a duly elected council, representing the people of the city in a most respectable way.
