Get involved with STEM, learning
On Oct. 29, Shadle Park High School and the University of Idaho demonstrated examples of the success of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) initiative. My company, Quest Integration, holds annual technical skill events. Students from these institutions showcased skills they will use in their manufacturing careers at our Spokane event.
Shadle Park students demonstrated how they learned to take an idea from concept to manufactured product. The Toddler Waddler, a bike that teaches young children to balance, was born of this process by these same students.
Next the University of Idaho students revealed STEM skills developed at the collegiate level. They research topics like the comparison between virtual and physical prototyping. Ultimately they take a test to earn their documentation of competency in vendor certifications.
Working at Quest Integration to help develop a homegrown, technically adept workforce is a highlight of my career. Quest truly cares about the future of this community. Teaching students technical skills will ensure the continued success of our area. I believe that other business professionals will see the value just as much as I do.
It’s easy to do. Contact a school and find out how you can help today.
