Host of former Bulldogs end college soccer season

SANDPOINT — Along with the state titles come a lot of athletes advancing to play at the next level, as 10 former SHS soccer players competed in college this fall.

Senior Adam Crossingham started seven of nine games played for Northwest Christian, registering 12 shots on goal for the Beacons, who finished 3-15 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference

The 5-9 senior midfielder played his junior season at Lenoir Rhyne College in North Carolina, starting 16 games and registering two assists. He played his freshman and sophomore seasons at Yavapai College in Arizona, the top junior college men’s soccer program in America, and helped lead the Roughriders to a 19-1-3 record as a sophomore, finishing sixth in the nation.

Senior Anders Nostdahl, a 5-7 senior midfielder at Whitworth (12-3-3), played in seven games this year, logging 115 minutes and one shot on goal for the Pirates of the Northwest Conference, Division III.

Nostdahl played in 11 matches as a junior and 15 as a sophomore for the Pirates.

Senior Tanner French, a 5-10 senior defender for Concordia (15-5-0), played in 19 games this year. In eight starts, he tallied two assists and 16 shots on goal.

French was named co-captain of the team before the season, after starting in 14 matches as a junior, helping lead a defense that posted eight shutouts in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. As a sophomore, he was named Co-Defensive Player of the Year in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. French transferred to Concordia after playing one season at Oregon State.

Freshman Austin Keyes saw action at goalie for Skagit Valley College of the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. Keyes helped SVC to a 12-4-1 record, as the team allowed just 23 goals on the season.

Former Sandpoint players Shane Stanley, Jeff Rokstad and Erik Wehse, all freshmen, played for the North Idaho College men’s team, which went 11-6-2.

Three former Bulldog girls also played at the next level this season. Sophomore Ellie Engel and freshmen Whitney Reichold and Meghan Pagano played for North Idaho College, helping the Cardinals boast a 7-8-2 record.
