Kiebert sisters lead Cats in sweep of Warriors
HARRISON FLATS — The Kiebert sisters had an impact in the back row and front row, leading Clark Fork to a straight set 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 sweep of Kootenai in North Star League volleyball on Tuesday night.
Senior Lyndsie Kiebert ripped 13 kills and sophomore Leslie Kiebert tallied 50 digs to lead the Wampus Cats (6-5, 4-2 NSL), who almost didn’t play due to unsafe court conditions at Kootenai High School.
“We came into the gym and they had a leak on the court,” said Cats head coach Cindy Derr, who agreed to play only if the Warriors had to play on the wet side. “I’m not going to subject my girls to injury.”
Annie Wurm posted nine set assists and Autumn Wagoner added nine kills, as the Cats were in control from start to finish, and have now won three league matches in a row.
“Every time they got close to us, we stepped it up and kept our heads in the game,” said Derr, praising the net presence of her middle blocker. “Autumn was really strong on the front row.”
Clark Fork is at Lakeside on Tuesday, looking to avenge a loss to the Knights in the first meeting, just like they did against Mullan the second time around.
