RATHDRUM — Sandpoint started slow, giving up two goals in the first eight minutes, but held strong to post a 5-2 win over Lakeland in a 4A Inland Empire League girls soccer clash on Thursday in Rathdrum.

Corinne Ariss scored two goals to lead the Bulldogs (7-3, 3-0 4A IEL), who clinched home field advantage for the district playoffs with the win.

“We had three starters out and we dealt well with that,” said Bulldogs head coach Conor Baranski. “I was very impressed with Lakeland’s effort. We didn’t match it in the first half.”

Nan Kiebert, Heidi Skinner and Sierra Scott also scored for the Bulldogs, who outshot the Hawks (2-11, 0-3 4A IEL) a whopping 21 to 3.
