Martin leads Bulldogs in Spokane
SPOKANE — Taylor Martin tallied 25 kills, 16 digs and five aces to lead the Bulldog volleyball team to a 4-3 record and second place finish in the Silver bracket at the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic, formerly known as the Crossover.
The Bulldogs (18-9) drew a tough pool, losing to University 25-15, 25-20 and Cascade 25-17, 25-21 to start pool play, before bouncing back to beat Bishop Blanchet 25-18, 23-25, 15-11 to earn a spot in the Silver bracket of the 64 team tournament.
Hailey Dunn led the team with 49 assists and seven aces, and Anna Alsager posted nine blocks, as the Bulldogs beat Heritage and Richland in straight sets to advance to the semis, where they downed Coeur d’Alene 26-24, 25-20.
“It was fun to beat them, probably the highlight of the weekend,” said Bulldogs head coach Karen Alsager. “Last time we lost to them and did not do well.”
The Bulldogs lost to King 25-16, 25-19 in the championship game, and Alsager believes her team can play better down the stretch. Sandpoint hosts Lake City tonight at 7 p.m.
