Wurm leads balanced Wampus Cats to win over Miners
CLARK FORK — A surprise visit from a guest coach paid dividends, as Clark Fork dispatched Wallace 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 25-10 on Thursday in North Star League volleyball action at Clark Fork High School.
Longtime Sandpoint club head coach Jack Dyck ran a practice on Wednesday night, and Wampus Cats head coach Cindy Derr said the team responded well.
“It made a huge difference,” said Derr. “The kids saw another perspective, and he helped them a lot on their serving.”
Annie Wurm led the Wampus Cats (7-6, 5-3 NSL) with 34 set assists and four aces, Lyndsie Kiebert hammered 20 kills, Leslie Kiebert dug up 54 balls and Autumn Wagoner added nine kills and two blocks.
“Team-wise, they finally figured out how to play and put it all together,” said Derr. “When they lost, they didn’t get down.”
Clark Fork hosts Noxon on Monday, with the JV game starting at 5 p.m., followed by the varsity at 6:30.
