Want to fix D.C.? Throw them all out

| October 17, 2013 7:00 AM

Who are they? Surely, you know — you are the voters who sent them to Washington. To say the least, your choices leave a lot to be desired. Tell me, if you will — why are we paying these “do nothings?”

One thing is for sure — whatever it is you want your government to be or do, the “A-team” you sent to Washington to get the job done has failed miserably. Why? Well … because you elected non-negotiators; you elected people who are ideologically intransigent; you elected people whose attitude is “we get what we want or we’ll shut her down.” It doesn’t work that way. In a multiracial, democratic society, each side — Latino, Asian, African, Native American, WASP, et al — must give a little to the others to get a little from them. One group cannot get everything it wants and deny the others everything they want. Comprende?

Technically speaking, it is really the voters who failed. Voters should be fired as voters, but the Constitution protects you from being fired. Makes me wonder, if we are going to have the same bunch of voters, are we going to have the same election results?

For my part, I’ve had enough stupidity. Throw them all out! What do we have to lose?
