Miners down Wampus Cats

| October 19, 2013 7:00 AM

WALLACE — The Wallace Miners started their North Star League game with the Wampus Cats when Mitch Millard returned the opening kickoff for a 70-yard touchdown, setting the tone for the game on Friday night in Wallace.

Due in large part to Millard’s four-touchdown performance, the Miners (6-0, 3-0 NSL) dominated the Wampus Cats (2-4, 2-3 NSL), posting a 52-6 win.

The Wampus Cats tried to keep the game competitive in the first quarter as Brandan Bowen flew downfield and juked his way to a 40-yard touchdown run. But after Clark Fork failed to convert the two-point conversion, it was all Wallace from there.

Senior quarterback Jacob Berman fired a pass off to Brock Arthun for a 51-yard touchdown just plays after the Wampus Cats scored.

And just minutes later, Berman connected with Arthun again for a 25-yard touchdown. A successful two-point conversion by Arthun put the Miners up by 16.

Clark Fork was able to drive down to the Miners’ 9 yard line before turning the ball over on downs, a loss of momentum they would never recover from against the North Star League power Miners.

Clark Fork hosts Timberline on Friday in their final home game of the season.
