UI Extension office is alive and well

| October 22, 2013 7:00 AM

Thanks to the Daily Bee for including the article on the former University of Idaho Research and Extension Center property.

While the article illustrated some of the activities of the UI in the Sandpoint area, I would also like to add there is another UI presence in the area: the UI Extension office serving Bonner County. Many residents are confused with UI’s presence in Bonner County. With the closure of the Sandpoint Research and Extension Center in 2010 many folks think the Extension office also closed at that time.

The fact is the UI Extension office has been open in Bonner County for almost 100 years, working to help residents live better lives through educational programs and materials. We were here when the stump farms were settled, when dairy farms flourished and when victory gardens were planted. We are here for you now through the support of your county government, cooperating with the University of Idaho and the US Department of Agriculture. Our office delivers educational programs and materials in 4-H/Youth Development, horticulture and small farms. We are the gateway to many experts in Extension offices in north Idaho and beyond.

We are located at the Bonner County Fairgrounds, at 4205 N. Boyer Ave. in Sandpoint. For more information, give us a call at 263-8511.
